Save Our Prairies

As our population grows, and food increases in demand, more and more farmland is created. Of all the biomes suitable for vegetation, prairies, also known as temperate grasslands, are the most efficient. Temperate grasslands have ideal temperatures, rainfall ammounts, and locations. Thanks to their unique ecosystems, prairies have thick layers of nutrient-ritch topsoil.

There's only a small problem: that unique ecosystem.

Prairies Don't Get The Attention They Deserve

Even with hundreds of organisms making up extremely complex food webs, the destruction of prairies isn't publicized. It's almost as if the destruction of rainforests for food is all people are willing to care about. Normaly organisms are limmited by the ammount of food available, but with humans it's the other way around. As the human population grows, we start to take more than our share of resources from the planet, and we're taking those resources in the wrong way. Local farms offer an easy alternative that helps the prairies. You're also cutting down on greenhouse gasses, since there's no shipment over long distances.
